Our programmes.

Our initiatives and programmes are shaped by the voices of our community. They are dedicated to promoting and valuing our Language and Culture while fostering the overall wellbeing of our people.

Nanamu ā Gagana

The Nanamu ā Gagana programme is a Samoan language class designed to support community members of all proficiency levels in learning the Gagana Samoa while deepening their understanding of the fa’asamoa (the Samoa way). The programme's goals are to help participants build confidence in their language skills, learn cultural customs associated with the Samoan language, and ultimately foster a community of fluent Samoan speakers.

Vaiaso ole Gagana Samoa

The Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa (Samoa Language Week) programme is implemented in schools to promote and celebrate Gagana Samoa within educational environments in the Nelson and Tasman regions. The purpose of the Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa programme is to foster a deeper appreciation for Gagana Samoa and its cultural significance by celebrating and promoting the language in schools across Nelson and Tasman.

Fa’amalosi Mai

The Fa'amalosi Mai programme is designed to empower our community with knowledge about maintaining good health while providing exercise classes to promote physical and mental wellbeing.

Kirikiti

Our Kirikiti Tournament aims to unite our Samoan community by celebrating our culture through the sport of Kirikiti. The purpose of the tournament is to provide the opportunity for our community members to practice and preserve our cultural customs associated with Kirikiti, while fostering enjoyment, healthy competition, and overall community wellbeing.
